School Infrastructure Update

School Infrastructure Update

The following contains information about updates regarding our school.

A project is underway to upgrade Birrong Girls High School and Birrong Boys High School. The project will deliver facilities to support the learning needs of the local community.

We expect to pour the concrete slab for the new building at Birrong Girls High School between 7am and 5pm on Wednesday 13 March, Friday 22 March, and Thursday 4 April. The pours will take place over 3 days and are not expected to cause major dirsuptions to the school and surrounding neighbours.

During the pours, to reduce truck movements near the school, a staging zone will be established away from the school where concrete trucks can wait for directions to enter the site. Once instructed to do so, concrete trucks will enter the site via the established entrance on Cooper Road.

Traffic control personnel will be in place to ensure the safety of pedestrians and that truck movements cause minimal impact to surrounding traffic.

Concrete trucks will be kept inside the construction site if traffic on Cooper Road becomes congested during peak times.

The concrete pour is not usually a noisy process, however there may be some noise from the concrete trucks entering and exiting the site. Once the concrete slab has dried, works to build the steel structure of the new building will begin.

You can sign up to the project’s mailing list by using the ‘contact us’ form on the project webpage. You can find the page by going to www.schoolinfrastructure.nsw.gov.au and using the search function.

We thank the community for your patience whilst we deliver this important upgrade to Birrong Boys and Girls High schools.
