During Week 8, our school participated in the Ration Challenge where students and staff ate the same ration a refugee in Syria would eat. The ration packages included red lentils, white rice, tinned sardines, vegetable oil, dried chick peas and tinned kidney beans.
As well as the food provided in the pack, there are two food coupons for additional rice and flour. They're representative of the coupons many refugees are given by the UN or other organisations that can be exchanged in local shops for essential staple foods.
Our school came 2nd place overall in Australia, with an impressive $28, 570 raised within the school community! Congratulations to all students and teachers involved, especially Ms Dabaja, who raised $4, 103 and Ms Parmaxidis, who raised $3, 534.
