VALE - Livia Bolanca

We pay tribute to our dearest friend, colleague, mentor and esteemed teacher, Livia Bolanca, who passed on the 29^th August 2024. Her passing has left an unfillable void in our school, but we were blessed to have experienced her incredible passion for education and for life, her compassion and empathy for all around her.

Livia Bolanca was an active member of the education profession for 30 years, impacting the lives of countless young women as an inspiring English and Drama teacher and Year Adviser at Birrong Girls High School.

She was selected by the Department of Education as an Expert Teacher on the English team in the HSC Strategy in 2019 in recognition of her teaching practice as amongst the best in the state. This provided Livia the opportunity to extend her sphere of influence from the faculty and school to the wider community of NSW and she was instrumental in designing and delivering the Department’s HSC Strategy to lift teacher practice and student performance statewide.

Livia’s exemplary practice and contribution to the profession was recognised through the Minister of Education Award in 2021.

We will always remember Livia as the brightest star in the universe,
